His & Hers Personalized Silver Cross Necklace Set - Rustic Everyday Faith Set

These handcrafted pure fine silver, his and her crosses can be personalized with a name, initials or date on the back. They have been hand stamped and hammered to give them a rustic, old world appeal with a modern edge. The sterling silver chains can be deeply oxidized to give them a rich charcoal color then sanded in some areas to reveal a little of the original silver shine or left original.

This his and her set began as a gift for a special couple who then had them blessed before wearing them together. The photo I first posted of these pieces have been highly popular with my clients and so now I've made them available to you as well and this time in fine silver! The men's cross is approx 1 1/4" x 1" and the woman's is approx 1" x 3/4". The size will vary slightly as they are hand made. Her chain is a choice of a 16" or 18" 1mm ball chain and his is a 20" extra large 2mm ball chain.

How it's made: 

It starts as a clay that can be molded, stamped and textured in any way imaginable. I roll the clay and weigh it for a uniform size. No 2 pieces will ever be the same. It will be perfectly imperfect with raw edges and a rustic, old world feel with texture lines. I then let it dry, sand it to smoothness, and fire in a kiln for approx. Once fired, it is solid, pure, 99.9% fine silver. I then wire brush it, file and sand it some more. It's rustic appearance comes from a hand hammered texture I add with a texturing hammer in strategic places and when I'm happy with the texture I oxidize the piece to leave dark in the low areas and to highlight the high areas. Finally it goes in a tumbler for a final glimmering polish and to add extra strength. Long 2-3 day process, Yes. But sooooo worth it!!
